    1st post

New to the forum, what a gold mine this place is.
Had my 4000 gallon 18000lts pond for 30 years and been ok untill recently when it started to leak so had the liner changed and all good now.
    Happy days so far.

    ATB RON.

Had the new liner fitted and got rid of the old cyprio filter and had a new filter Oase biotec fed by one of my old pumps, kept the seperate filters of alfagrog run by a small pump. The old liner did have a bottom drain but decided to do away with it as not knowing where the leak was.
With the old filters this year i did'nt need to use the uv so i must have been doing something right, it'll be on standby in case though for next year

Nice selection of koi colours there Ron and a good size pond.

The oase biotech,is that the one that cleans itself or am I getting mixed up with another one ?

Hi mate the biotec sort of cleans itself, incoming water goes onto a mesh with a sensor that clicks in when dirt has built up rotates and moves the dirt to a tray for manual disposel, after the mesh it goes through the filter to sponge filters that are easy to clean with a tool they come with then you shut the outlet lift a valve and get rid of the dirty water, bit of a two stage system on it. Ive added some oase filter start to it but with the cold/mild weather fingers crossed it gets going.
For sure its going to be a lot less maintenance than the old filter i had.

Hi Ron,yes sounds like the one I was thinking of.

I saw a guy who had one and was quite impressed how it worked, bit like a seive.
I use the drum filter which basically works similar and does the same job.
