Thread: New platform for Buying and Selling

Morning all.
I've been working on a project for Koi keepers to buy and sell their Koi or items, on a dedicated platform.


To that effect, I created the http://koi-marketplace.co.uk, where anyone can post Koi, items or anything koi related for sale, including services.
The whole idea is to give people a space to buy and sell with confidence
The project its still in its infancy, as I need people to join and start adding things for sale.
Can you go check it out and register? Maybe put that item for sale or move a Koi to another home?
I’m always open to feedback, so let me know what you guys think.

There are so many avenues for buying and selling koi and koi related equipment for free that I don't see what you can achieve with this project.

The buying and selling aspect needs to be free, and once you've built the popularity and trust within the site the monetisation should come from premium advertisers. Otherwise I don't think this will take off.

There's currently a brilliant Koi Classifieds group on Telegram with 600 members and quality Koi, equipment, filters etc listed for sale every single day, and its totally free. Right now it has Grow-on Vats, Bowls, Nets, Show quality Koi, Pumps, Drums, Autofeeders, Sieves and showers listed for sale from all over the UK, free for buyer and seller. You'll struggle to beat that with a fee structure.

You're right, there are quite a few, but it's very fragmented. Can you easily share a post with someone from that Telegram group? I was part of that group too, until they kicked me out this weekend, don't know exactly why.
Also, with advertising on a site like mine, your items won't be pushed back to the queue because someone else posted something. Your items are can also be found on the internet, as the site will be indexed on Google.
The main advantage, from my perspective, is that you can avoid scammers, as all the payment goes through a very reputable payment provider, used by most UK big web stores.

Currently I'm only charging 1% comission on sales and I'm starting to look for advertisers, but as I said, it is an experiment. It might not work because I don't get enough engagement.
