    pond netting

How many members fully net their pond please ?

I,m always more concerned about any jumpers than a heron visit as i can sort that with a perimeter net ..

Fed up of looking through a net at my koi and sturgeon , thinking of taking it off .

any pics of your netted ponds or jump guards would be appreciated .

    Thanks

I have to fully net my 1000gallon circular raised pond as I have lost 4 bigger jumpers who even managed to get through the net above the skimmer or over the side after some heavy rain. I think they were actually after food trapped in the net so acrylic side guards on the to do list. I also have a persistent heron with his eye on easy pickings & a fox that walks along copings of 6 foot high walls to hunt for food. With my new 3500 gallon rectangular pond I am thinking of jump guards / netting or even a polycarbonate cover that could lower from the pergola roof on motorised cables. As this pond also has two windows for additional viewing. Still undecided myself

Rising roof sounds mint like. Hope there a new pond build thread with it.

I haven't netted my pond and touch every thing the only jumper I had was a new one that was in a bowl getting acclimatise

Think I would add jump guards if they start any of that like

I am not the first to think of a motorised cover , I actually borrowed the idea from Northern Koi Keeper on you tube https://youtu.be/uwWqgpitoGQ

My thoughts exactly, I even have a 12v winch that I put on my boat but never use soa bit of recycling to be done once the pergola roof is complete

Northern Koi Keeper has inspired me to have a go at making a cover like that myself. Just finishing the pipework at the moment but It looks do-able to me.
