Post I’m new on here and new to Koi....

    Afternoon all...

I recently purchased and set up a small 700ltr pond and currently have a total of 11 mixed carp in the form of Koi/ghost Koi/Mirror Carp/Common Carp..

Sized range from around 4” to 9”...and yes, it was a ‘lockdown’ decision but one I’d been considering for some time..

I have just ordered a bigger pond as I would like to add a couple of slightly bigger Koi and a bigger Mirror making a total of 15 carp...

    The new pond is 2850ltr (630gal) (and measures 2.4 x 1.4 x .98 (externally)...

I want a Bottom Drain with aerator but I’m stuck on a decision about filtration and should I go Gravity or Pump etc...would possibly want a waterfall (already have one from the other pond) but would like to be able to switch to under surface return feed too...

I was considering the Nexus Eazy Pod Complete...or the Auto Clean version

I have spoken to a few retailers but not sure how much I trust them not to just sell me the best mark-up line....any help would be greatly appreciated...!

Obviously, I want clear and good quality water but I don’t have a limitless budget, so was looking at spending no more than £1000 if possible...Space is not a problem.

    Thanks in advance..Mark G

    Welcome to the forum.

Think the pond is going to be a little small for the number of fish that you are considering. The best solution would be a bigger pond but if it's too late for that, then keep the stock level lower.
I would think that an Easy Pod would be a good choice for that size pond.
Maybe find a dealer you can trust. Gaz from Aurora Koi is a member of this forum, he will give you good and unbiased advice.

If space is not an issue, take advantage of that.
The fish will grow, the new larger pond is not nearly enough.
Don't buy any more Fish until the setup is ready, that would realistically be another year, for everything to mature.

I'd definitely second the above. Let's not beat around the bush(!) - even the new pond you've ordered is FAR too small for the fish you currently have, let alone moving up to 15. To give you some idea, I have eight Koi (including three young) in a 7,000 litre(ish) pond and I'd say this is just about on the edge of OK in terms of Koi per litre...

welcome to the forum, I have a 7500ltr pond with 13 small koi, in a year or 2 they will be too big for the pond,
