Thread: Filtering fines

    Filtering fines

Just upgraded to an eazypod, problem is excess fines even though I have the K1 micro medium. Read much about socks and tights on the outlet pipe and matting plus plumbing T sections to provide an overflow requirement. I have an idea I need judgement on... I will have a spare pressuried filter shortly and I was thinking to remove the contents and fill it with polyester wadding, submerg the canister and pump feed it to polish the fines, yep it will need replacing every few days but a sock on the outlet I think is more time consuming. Any opinions pse

you need a prefilter to remove fines , as the eazy pod media matures it will capture more media but that will take months

You might be better just putting a filter sock with a bypass / overflow on the outlet of the Eazy Pod.

Start off with a 400 micron then drop to a 200 micron and if required drop down to a 100 micron. Depending on which filter socks you get you could either use 3" pressure pipe and make a spray bar. If you get the 4" socks you will need something a bit smaller diameter. Something about the same size as the cleaning tube for the Eazy Pod.

That should have been, 4" filter socks with a plastic rim as they are designed to go inside 4" pipe but won't go over 3" pressure pipe annoyingly

Filter socks take a couple of minutes to remove and hose down even allowing to remove and refit the jubilee clip.

I buy 2 of each size so have one in use and one hanging up drying out ready to swap over when required.
