Hi newbie advice request
Hi all, I’m after some help and tips. We are currently in the process of moving home and the property we are moving to has a koi pond with some very large Koi. We currently have a pond in our present house with goldfish and small pump/filter and uv bulb. I’ve always been under the impression that koi take a lot more work and attention and therefore asking for the basics of what I need to know.
any help is much appreciated

Hi. The fundamentals of a koi pond are similar to a goldfish pond for example, the Nitrogen cycle, needing filters and of coarse enough room for the fish to move freely. Koi ponds are as you've heard, more work than gold fish ponds and need regular maintenance and water quality testing. This is because Koi produce more waste than gold fish. Since your moving to a new house with a pond hopefully the pond is already setup including the filters, do you have any info on the pond? size of the pond, amount of koi and filter system?
