Hi from Essex.
Hi lads and ladies. I'm new to the forum, but not to Koi. I have a 20ft x 10ft pond that is raised out the ground 2ft, 1/2 the pond is 4ft deep and the other 1/2 is 7 ft deep, so has volume of around 6,800 Gallons (i think). The old pond is on it's way out now due to the old sleepers splitting, so thought it was about time I renewed it. At the moment It's running a pump from the pond to the filter, but I'm going to change this to a gravity fed pond. I'll get some pics up of the old pond and the new build once I start, if I can figure out how to post pics.
All help and advise is welcome and wanted as I have not built a pond for many years now. I will be fitting a bottom drain as well as a skimmer, so please feel free to throw as much advise at me as you can.
Stay safe,
Atb, Steve.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the Forum.
A drain is a must and for your sized pond I would also suggest a drum is too mate.
Personally I am a Bakki fan and run 3 on my 4100 gallon pond.
Happy to give my view on any questions you have pal.
Cheers
GazHobby and business gone but when you’re hooked you’re hooked.
Always happy to help!!

Thanks for the welcome Gaz. I'm trying to work on a budget being retired, so was going to use my existing 5 bay filter and was thinking of adding a vortex 1st from the bottom drain before it enters the main filter. And was also thinking of running the skimmer through a sieve or bakki style filter. Please correct me if there is a better way. I would love a RDF, but can't afford that expense atm.

Thanks for all the replies. And good to know there are a few Essex people on here. I'm from the Dengie, so don't know if anyone is near me.
I'm looking forward to the build, and should be starting the build very soon, just waiting for the 10ft swimming pool to turn up so I can house the fish in there temporary new home until the build is finished.
I'll make a new thread in the right section for the build and go from there..
Speak soon.

Hi Steve, I’m in Essex too. I’ve got a vortex filter that’s now defunct as of a month ago. Filled with Jap matting currently, it was going on eBay soon but if you want it instead of buying new let me know. I’m near lakeside kinda way
