Hi from Norfolk
Hello all I am new to the forum and new to pondkeeping which has become my lockdown project. I have been keeping fish indoors over 30 years and have kept all types from the humble goldfish to extravagant coral reef tanks. I currently maintain 4 aquariums indoors all housing cichlids varying in size from 100 to 800 litres. However just over a month ago and with lockdown in force I decided to venture into the world of koi. My new pond is quite modest being 2 x 2 x1m with a marginal shelf on one side. Filtration is a pump fed pressure filter with uv and i have connected this to a hoselock flow through filter box which i have modified to have a bottom gravity drain feeding back to the pond. Media wise i have the flow through 2/3 full of ceramic media, sponge and filter floss.
The pond was filled and started 3 weeks ago using 5 koi and some bacteria in a bottle. I added further bacteria a week later and some more fish. It is very much a work in progress as we cannot shop for the supplies we want to edge it and beautify it. So for now its surrounded by gravel liner and a few pieces of slate. Anyhoo i will be perusing the forums with interest to learn as much as i can. The wife has already agreed to an upgrade which will be in a year or two once the fish grow.

Hi and thanks for the welcome. Very steep learning curve and watching lots you tube vids on the tv which is driving the mrs mad. She does like the pond a lot though and is actively involved in planning where it goes from here. Hmmmmm pics i have several on the phone i will try and put one up.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Just don't be frightened to ask anything, however simple it seems. Lots of experienced keepers on here.
