Building different shapes
Hi there
I've recently moved and am looking at shapes for a koi pond. I know how to build a square cornered pond with hollow blocks and reinforcement rods, but the shape of this garden makes me look at alternatives. Any advice (with experience) on building a pond with corners different to 90 degrees would be appreciated

Go lay a hose pipe out. And then stand back. Or look out bedroom window. And see the shape. And see if it will blend in.
And then the next after you decide on what you like.
Is how will the water move.
If square chamfer the corner. For water movements. No dead spots.
Then your halfway there. Or visit ponds for ideas.
And look in the pond build threads. There some great looking ponds in there.

Built mine with hollow blocks and rods with no 90 corners, shaped like a pear so good movement of water.
Did it all on my own and not too hard to do.John

Do you have a pics John? Guess I'm just concerned about weakening it and how to fill the gaps created by the blocks not sitting flush with each other (i.e. a straight wall). Might be over thinking it

Two questions for everyone
1) what equipment have you used to cut dense concrete blocks? Found the cutter I used previously was very thirty on petrol so sure there must be better out there
2) any links for non right angled cornered ponds. I swear 90% of the ones I've looked at on the build diary threads are rectangular
Thanks

Hi , my last pond was like a pair of glasses one flat side with 2 humps on the back edge, down side to it was the muck didnt always get to the drains . I was always putting a brush in to move twice a week or changing the flow around .Now the pond i have is 6.5 meters by 3.5 meters with 2 drains and no muck collecting anywhere .
