    Help needed

Hi all currently trying to setup cetus sieve on gravity system ,when I open valve from bottom drain the level in the float system only goes up about half way,no where near water level in pond, have tried adding more to base off sieve but when I switch pump on obviously water drains out of bottom ,float drops back down ,excessive water then drains from pond overflow ,sieve is setup 20mm above pond water as recommended ...thanks....adrian

Firstly I would get rid of the horseshoe bit at the top as it will air lock constantly and also in my experience the float spill in the Cetus, where the water falls onto the mesh should be 20 mm above water level when it is fully floated in the full position to see what I mean close all valves on the Cetus so it holds water and fill chamber with water to lift the bellows and float the top of the water supply to the mesh will sit about 10 mm above the outer plastic tub, maybe lay your valve flat to the floor then plumb straight to the intake, It will work perfect then, well in my opinion , I've set a few up

    Hi stuffyrat
Thanks for replying, reason for horseshoe is limited to space as I had planned to box all In when finished,,are you saying it's only the float part that needs to be 20mm above water level and not the whole sieve

Yes the whole seive will never work above water level and the horseshoe bit will slow the flow and heavy particles will just rest in the pipe most won't reach the seive at all

Well factor in the seive needs to be first ideally and uv last if possible or maybe seive , bead, uv then shower if it emptys to the pond, have good think tho and mock up before solvent welding even use ptfe tape to test lay out it may leak a bit but cheaper than wasting unions , I think we can all say there's always unforeseen issues with best made plans and normaly a better way too, my ponds been running for two years now and I'm still tweaking things to get it better, but there's always loads of help on here from the great lads and ladies, good luck

I ,I have 2 returns one mid water and one being shower so I had planned BD-sieve-pump-bead-uv-mid water return and the other off bead to shower,I know no uv on shower but eventually all water would pass uv at some point, does this sound ok?

Yes sounds fine to me but I'm not an expert compared to some on here I just like to try help with hurdles I've had I do think you should have a moving bed k1 if possible and obviously make sure your turning all the water atleast every hour , my ponds 6000 gallons and I push about 26000 ltrs a hour and have 4 large air stones rotating the water too and seem to work well, just keep ontop of the waste in the seive it's no good having waste sat in your pond water I see from the pics you have it blanked off

if you can drain down and make it so valve and horseshoe goes left then back to sieve it would work better and shouldnt have to move sieve from its space its on,,,andi

Looking at your pic you will definitely get an airlock in that 4" pipe, as the others have said.

If I were you I would get a 90 degree elbow for the pressure pipe to go before the valve and install the big valve in a horizontal position lined up with the sieve port. Avoid any up-and-downy bits.
