Reason i asked mate i had mine. Finished off with brick work.
As the coping finish.
And the cement leeched into my pond. And gave a few of my fish ulcers. And i wanted to pass on to you what happened to mine. So had to g4 it to protect it. But with your copings . That should make yours perfect.
Attatched photo of what i mean.
If you look at brick work around the shoot from upper pond you can see the different colour. Thats the g4 clear . Its all good now though
And your spot on with the price of fibre glassing. Its ridiculous. For a days work. Mine was in with the orice of the build. I asked my builder how much and he said for mine. He would charge 4 grand. I cannot put on here what i said. To me . A grand is about right. For a days graft.

Thats why i brought it to your attention mate. Its easy to miss something like that. The raining put some of it in. It took me ages to work it out. Found grains of sand and cement in my drum waste tray.
Then i clicked. If you trap it in the cavity like you say. Should be ok. And use a fish friendly sealant adisive. There is plenty on here will put you right what to use.
But thats what it is all about mate.
Bounce things off each other.
Can t wait to see photos of your pond once the walls are finished .

Personally I detest being able to see the liner above water level.
I would wrap the liner over the penultimate level and then instal the last level on top of the liner, wrapping it UPwards in the cavity and over the top of the final layer and then put coping s on that.
It means you need to G4 seal the whole of the top layer so you dont get lime in the water but to my eye its much much neater.
Can be a pain getting the liner flat too...

Brick work all finished next is coping and paving path round the curve to a seating area as my garden is on a slope the 2 foot wall at the path ends up just over 1 foot at the seating area which I think will work out pretty ok for seating back and enjoying
