Planned on having loads done today but had the neighbour begging to lay his base for a summer house /bar after he got the concrete then realised he didn't have a clue lol nugget.
But still managed to get bd glued and set corners are all sorted to sort the flow out..
need some more yellow sand for the base hopefully have liner in returns sorted and filter up and running this weekend if weather holds but ment to start raining again for 2 + weeks starting Saturday afternoon

Wanting to run 2inch returns. Problem is pump inlet is 2inch but outlet is 1.5 and uv is 1.5 is it going to give me any trouble sticking 1.5 to 2 on the uv outlet
Wanting to run 2inch to future proof for bigger pump, shower, submersible uv

I am in the process of connecting all my return pipework in the new pond & to build in higher flow possibilities I am running a 2” bypass along side the 1.5” UV “lay-by” all flow & route controlled with ball valves, allowing restricted or no flow through the UV but max flow to the shower & returns in total
So finally got a mid level return plumbed in today . Is it normal ish that one of my fish keep trying to swim up the return it's head won't fit but it keeps bloody trying

Yes that sounds fairly normal as I saw one of mine trying to swim up the 1.5" 45 degree bend on the surface return in the QT system the other day. Another favourite is swimming into the current from a return. I see mine do that regularly.
Glad to hear you got your return sorted though :)
On one of my returns on the pond I fitted a flexi rubber boot elbow and just took the jubilee clip off the open end so if they swam into it at least it was a fairly soft edge :)
Loving having it like this now . No noise very little water surface disturbance no horrid pipe work . . I wish I knew what I was doing first time round .
2 mind as if to stick a 45 or 90 on the end to change the flow around now and again ??

I have all my returns above or at least level withe the surface only to get extra aeration but it does limit what you can see in the pond specially with the 2 air stones but in the QT system the spindrifter air diffuser is right under the return and doesn't make too much difference to how much I can see into the tank. Probably helps it's not got direct sunlight on it only 2 small LED floodlights :)
That's what I did with the return from my protein skimmer - just pushed on a 2" elbow. Worked great and was adjustable if required. Unfortunately it wasn't a very tight push fit and the bugger fell off when I was moving the protein skimmer around while I was redoing the skimmer line pipework. Dropped straight to the bottom of the pond and I only managed to get it back out a few days later when I fitted the retro BD
After 5 years I finally have a proper electric box lol https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b6fccc7f31.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...86286c1abc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...33152a1f3a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...815b8052be.jpg
