New Owner of Extreme Koi Forum
Hello Everyone,
My name is Steve and I would like to introduce myself as the new owner of Extrem Koi Forum. I have been working with Laz over the last week on the transfer. I used to keep Koi when I was in the UK and I have started again where I now live in Spain (but in a very different way with no filters, pumps, heaters etc... more on that another time).
As part of the transfer process the forum has already moved hosting and is now on a solid state drive on a good spec server. So I hope it's fast for you. There might be a problem or two so please shout if something seems to have gone wrong in the last couple of days. I have found a few bugs that Laz has already fixed. One of which is how the site views on mobile (without tapatalk) , it previously had layout problems but now lays out quite nicely on mobile without any app.
I think Laz has done a great job with the forum upgrade and some of the feature implementations. I don't plan any drastic changes. I will be doing some online marketing to attract new blood and increase the member base. I want to make this the best koi forum on the internet. If you have any suggestions or questions I'll be happy to have them and always feel free to send me a PM.
All the mods have been notified and I would like to keep them and Laz involved going forward.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Andy, I think I know It's not the first forum I have bought and I have to say one is normally met with hostility but you've been the friendliest bunch yet...so far.
I'm in Andalucia. I'm not sure how big the market for koi is here in Spain, I'd love to know because if it was a large unfulfilled market I'd like to become a dealer in a few years. I think it's a small market and its poorly catered for, for example, there is only 1 koi dealer I can realistically visit and thats 2 hours away (koi hacienda), you tell me what the quality is like, you've probably got a better idea than me www.koihacienda.com
I live in a rural area and have a lot of land (like 11 acres). I irrigate some of this (avocado and citrus tress) from a water deposit. It's open topped and this is where I have thrown some japanese koi. No filtration at all, no air, no heating, nada. I put the first batch in April 2014 and more this April, most are still there, a few vanished, 1 died. They are growing fast and look great. Until recently I could only see them by climing up a 3 metre ladder! My theory for why it might work is that the volume is 360,000 litres and everytime I irrigate.. fresh water replaces the level so there are regular partial water changes, I also figured the koi crap would be a nice bit of fertiliser. It seems to be working, it must the easiest, cheapest koi keeping known! I just add food. Fingers crossed!

I was thinking of moving out to Almeria,Spain. I have seen the Koihacienda website and thought the koi didn't look too bad and the prices are good . I have looked on a Spanish koi forum website and there are a lot of mentions of the Koihacienda.
i like the style of pond and have been swimming in many of these before my mother (who lives in Almeria) got a swimming pool. You'll no trouble heating out there5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window
