How old is the pond/filters? The bugs that deal with nitrite take much longer to develop compared to the bugs that deal with ammonia.

What filtration do you have? Is it sufficient to deal with what are asking from it?

Pond is around 8-9 weeks old including the filter (oase bio 24,000l set ) on a 5,000l pond so should handle it ok. I Have 8 8inch fish and a 6inch sturgeon

Your filter might be able to handle things when mature, but currently you are experiencing new pond syndrome. The pond and filter need time to mature.

I filled my pond up in October last year and still get persistent nitrite. So as you can see it takes a long time for the pond to mature.

So keep testing, slow down/stop feeding if it starts spiking and carry out water changes as suggested and it should eventually sort itself out.

Use a dechlorinator on the new water as chlorine is bad for fish and won't help the filters.

Try something like these , I have used others but find these work well for odd spikes in Ammonia & Nitrites
