Thread: Filtreau drum problem

Hoping for a bit of advice on a new issue with my Filtreau gravity fed drum filter. The red light/button comes on and it stops cleaning to the point that the filter runs dry and my varipump turns off.

If I turn the whole thing off and on again it looks normal, once the varipump is up to speed for a short while the drum does a very short clean and stops and the red light is on again.

Holding the button down runs the cleaning process but it stops as soon as I let go and the light stays on. Manually pushing the float switch activates cleaning and the switch moves freely.

I’m starting to think in need to remove the bypass bungs until I get it sorted.

The system has been running fine for about 6 years and I changed the float switch last year for the first time.
