Cool My costs of cleaning the EazyPod

7500l with 11 Koi, 6 old timers 25 year old biggest 82cm & 5 youngsters growing into monsters, so I know the EazyPod was at - or way beyond it's limit/capabilities. I had it for 3 years and towards the end it was just gettinh too much for me to do, cleaning it out every other day, probably would have been better every day but!

Now my Burtons BD150 combi is running, I have used 54 Litres, (about 30p), from the shed tap in 10 days not counting a drip feed top up into the filter, another approx. £1.40.

I received a email from my water supplier South East Water and Waste water disposal by Southern Water which got me thinking £501 in credit and DD of £75/month, usage £45/month.

I emailed them, got a phone callback next day, sorted - refund and payments down to £45/month - result!

Looking back on previous meter readings from May to September this year it has cost me over a £1 a day for filter cleaning/topping up. Having to boil the EazyPod 2 or 3 times, losing 80L each time is not cheap.

Rant over - looking forward to cleaner water for the Koi, less work for me and cheaper water bills

    Cheers, John

Im sure I read somewhere that if you have a garden pond you can get a reduction in your bill . It was years ago so not sure if it still that way or even if it was just my local authority in north east england

...not always. It depends on the company and you need to install a meter on the supply to the pond I believe, but only if your water goes to soak away. The discount is from the waste element of your bill, as it's not going back to the water company to process.

I have a company that manage the water supply and a different company that manage the waste. Neither had a clue what I was talking about when I asked.
3070 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.
