Filtration FiltoClear31000 or BioTec ScreenMatic 40000?
Hello, I am new here and am currently digging my first pond. It is a circular pond with a 6m diameter and a Max water depth of 90cm. It is sunken with a liner and a 40cm high stone wall forming the edge of the pond plus coping on top. It is an ornamental pond with water lilies and marginal planting but NOT a koi pond. I don't intend to have any large fish due to the maintenance required and the fact that I like my water lilies more .
However, I would like to keep the water reasonably clear, and I have been reading about filtration systems, UVC, skimmers, etc. I have narrowed it down to either Filtoclear 31000 (+ Aquamax Eco Premium 17000) or BioTec ScreenMatic 40000 + Bitron C60 (+Aquamax Eco Premium 17000). I was wondering if any of you have any experience with them and are happy to share thoughts and preferences. I will need a skimmer as the pond is near a deciduous woodland.
Thank you!

Both filters are rubbish. I have personal experience with the filtoclears. I know them inside out as I have renovated a few to keep them alive.
I have no personal experience with the screenmatic other then the constant stream of people coming to the forum, having spent good money on them and having terrible problems with clarity and fish loss. Probably value for money if you took a zero off the price.
So f you aren't having fish in the pond and it's planted, that would probably suffice, but a waste of money.
But if you want clear water, then otherwise a pump through a UV and over sieve would probably suffice.
For screenmatic money, you could install a drum filter with UV in it. This would be 1000times better than the screenmaticLast edited by Alburglar; 11-01-2025 at 12:16 AM.
