Water problems advice please
I’ve had my pond running for around 6 months now and started to encounter problems mainly Ammonia which has me worried, koi have flashed a little.
Last week I was doing partial water changes everyday at around 20% and it has brought it down a little, always de chlorinated.
I’ve tested my water again today with the following results.
Ammonia 0.2
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10.0
PH 7.5
KH 4 drops
GH 7 Drops
5000 litre pond, 6 Koi.
Filtration 4” bottom drain to eazypod, varipump, 25watt UV, large waterfall return box with mountin tree spiral filter matting and lotus root inside.
I’m worried for the koi and wondering if I’m going overboard with water changes.
Help much appreciated.

Levels seem good. I'm assuming you're unheated and have stopped feeding?
Maybe a few scrapes to look for parasites.
A chlorine test wouldn't go a miss.2660 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.

Hi Alburglar.
Thanks for your reply.
I was worried nitrate might have been too high.
I did another test today and the only difference is no Ammonia which is good but nitrate still at 10
Weirdly enough I tested nitrate alone with another testing kit from a different brand and it was showing 0 nitrate.
I’ve seen no flashing today thankfully, and yes I’ve done scrapes and de chlorinated

Nitrate of 10 is very acceptable. 0 is very unlikely so I'd stick with the other brand of test kits.
