EA 30” k+ bead filter dual feed?

The above bead filter has a recommended flow rate of 18,000lph, my pond after revamp will be around 12,000ltrs, I’ve a 4” bottom drain and a 4” skimmer line both these will be pumped up to a shed above the pond that will house the bead filter, question is, if I go 2” pipe after the pump on both runs using two pumps one on each run, could I join the two pipe runs before they go into the filter and run each varipump at 8-9,000lph, would it work, I can’t see why it wouldn’t but I’m no expert, looking at possibly having some form of gravity fed sieve on the bd then pumping from there although I have seen plenty just reducing down to 2” and running the bd straight through a pump, pond will be covered with no plants etc actually in the pond.

    Hello mate,

I’ve got the 24” k plus filter and think they’re pretty good.

Will you be running the bottom drain and skimmer gravity fed into the same sieve? That might help avoid the need for 2 pumps, and you can control the flow with ball valves.

I've got 2 gravity fed bottom drains feeding into one sieve. After that there is one pump which takes the water to the K plus filter. Dont forget to put a slide or ball valve in between the pump and advanced filter, as you need to close it when the blower is on.

Was thinking more of using the two pumps I have, EA 10k varipump and a pondtec 11,500k varipump so I could turn off the skimmer in the depths of winter and just keep the pond turning over on the bottom drain.
Do you think a 30” would cope with no sieve before hand?

Yes mate I would highly recommend having some sort of mechanical filter (sieve, drum) before pumping to the advanced filter, otherwise I think you’ll risk it getting blocked, particularly if it’s coming off the bottom drain line.

    Thanks for that,
there’s an ultra sieve lll with twin inlets on flea bay that’s not that far from me, think I’ll have a go at it, means buying a 20k pump but I spose mine will sell easy enough
