    EA evo Ti 55watt UV

    hi
is anyone using the above can only find one review and not complementary .
might be better to stick to something tried and tested.

i've found EA UV's to be quite restrictive on flow rate.

have you a drum, or can you not find space for an amalgam UV?
the amalgam tubes last 2-3 years, and are far stronger than standard tubes.

    thanks for reply
the long awaited pond rebuild starts a week tomorrow ive a meeting with pond builders this Wednesday to finalise build etc.
he has suggested a filtreau combi drum. but i keep reading on the forum about breakdowns and replacement parts on drums and as we go away for 5 weeks holiday and neighbour take over im thinking something old school tried and tested.
pond will be approx 20,000 ltrs so at the moment tempest on skimmer line back to two blades in warmer months mid return in the winter.
two bottom drains one aireated to cetus sieve then too nexus 320+automatic . pond above ground with window.

    Drums do break down occasionally,
as with any mechanical equipment like water pumps and air pumps.

but i would have a job going back to manual mechanical filters now,
it just takes all the dirty hard work out of keeping koi.

combi drums are fine, but usually the bio chamber is too small imo.
so i prefer drum bio set ups unless you are adding a shower.

for a 20,000 litre pond i would want a big bio that would hold around 400 litres of K1
    i currently have 250 litres of K+ in a 500 litre bio on a 2500 gallon pond...

a 320 is well rated by EA for a 20,000 litre pond,
but imo they are slightly over rated on bio capacity at 34,000 litres.
the automatics are less reliable than a drum imo, with one valve failing able to potentially nearly empty your pond...

had a good meeting with pond builders today . marked out dimensions of pond and fish house. work starts Monday.
having listened to dave the fish and pond builder going for fitreau combi next and a skimmer that i will be able to clean from within the fish house as pond will be built upto the rear wall making it not accessible .
