Thread: Issue with Filtreau Drum filter

Been running this drum for about 4-5years now.

Every so often (could be weeks, months etc) the system throws its toys out the pram.

I come home and the ponds dirty, the pump is running dry and the filter is not doing a clean cycle, eg:

Dirty side is full, clean side is empty (small trickle) and the water level has gone below the float switch and the drum is no longer activating a clean cycle, so very little water gets through.

This then causes the bio chamber to drain down and he pump to (almost) run dry. As you can imagine not ideal.

I then do a few manual cycles to clean things off and back in business.

Its not the screen as same issue only a few days after cleaning the screen (with screen cleaner).

The float switch is working and as far as I can see not sticking.

Nothing obvious.

Any ideas?
