    RAU Filters

Has anyone used these filters before or got any information about their goods? Saw them on FB and they look too good to be true. Very cheap and free shipping. They're made in Vietnam. I'm trying to decide on filtration for a 500 gallon heated grow on EZ pond. Would a drum/bio set up be the way to go....or an Eazy pod?

The first one that looks a reasonable size with 110mm fittings is $2500 so you may as well buy something over here. Easypod or something, like you say.

Thanks for replying, it's only a 500 gallon pond so I don't want to over spec it. But these did look too good to be true. Would an Easypod give clear water(minimal or no fines)....or do I need a drum for that? Also some drums give a faster turnover of water than may be good for filtration. So at this stage I'm open to all suggestions

I run a Easypod on my 1600 gallon pond, with extra K1 Micro in and a 300 micron Beer Filter in the outlet, without that the fines are a bit of a problem.

    EG:

+ a adaptor is required to fit the Easypod, usually 3D printed, just a few quid.

I'm liking the look of the Draco Minima combi filter and drum. It will fit in the small space I have. Anyone out there use one?

Also there's no wash pump to supply the cleaning nozzles, in the video and pictures the pipe isn't connected to anything, and the guy says something along the lines of "this outlet for if the customer wants to fit a wash pump", so I expect that'll be another £200 needed to buy a powerful enough wash pump, and then another £40 on the connectors, ball valves and pipework.

If on a budget I'd be inclined to buy a quality 2nd hand drum for this kind of money. Saw a mint 65/40 profi-drum with amalgam for sale yesterday at £2k, and also recently a Aquasource synergy 35 for £1200. (They're £3600 new).

Wow, good spot. Great info that, I wouldn't have thought of that. I'll have a look for the Aquasource combi. Thanks

It's probably mains pressure, rather than a pump.
    ..like the draco.

I use a draco solum 16. I'm its third owner...still going well. I prefer it using mains pressure, as opposed to pump, but that's a horses for courses type decision.
    Mains won't drain your pond.
Pond water and pump will use your fresh water more effectively as top up, but there's always a worry it will glitch and drain the pond etc

    I paid £650 IIRC
There are loads of 2nd hand drums about for that money. They're all fairly good. I don't think anyone has made a stinker, to avoid, that I'm aware of?
If it's an indoor grow on, I would go easy pod for simplicity.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have a mains water feed to pond and also a waste to the drain, electricity armoured cableakso done,.all done before new patio goes in, all I need mow is to sort filtration and pump. EZ pond is November delivery at earliest so plenty of time but I want to get as much sorted as early as possible. The slab for pond is going in this week . At the moment I'm undecided whether to go for Easypod and seive (would that be sufficient? I know nothing about seives).... or a draco minima combi unit....also which pump to get. I've been advised an over spec vari pump so it doesn't have to work as hard. As with all previous suggestions I'm very open to all ideas. Thanks again to all suggestions so far
