    Burtons Infrared shower Media

    Hi all,
Looking to upgrade my shower media this year and was wondering if anybody has used Burtons Infrared. Seems like the best value media out there. A close second is Aqua Source Kano. Interested to hear people’s thoughts.

Not heard of it before, it looks similar to this which I recently bought but not yet used:

If my calcs are correct there doesn't seem to be much between the burtons and the QK value wise with 2 boxes of QK coming out at £108 ish to give 50 litres (estimate about 22-25kg).

If just looking for the cheapest way to fill a shower, you could look at this:

    https://queni-koi.co.uk//dry-goods-c...ne-p6295/s9122

1x 10kg bag was just about enough to make an 80cm x 30cm shower tier function, although there's enough room left to get at least another half bag in.

For my new shower these are what I went with, the pumice because its cheap and is recommended by the shower manufacturer, and the CSM just to try something else in one of the other tiers that wouldn't break the bank.

I went for the Burtons in the end but haven’t put it in yet. I am replacing the pumice so hoping it’s worth the change. I got a lot of surface foam when using pumice in the shower - fingers crossed the new media will reduce this.

Now I know why Pumice is recommended for my shower!

I've got a protein shower, it is designed to create as much foam as possible, and then remove it before returning water to the pond. Maybe the Pumice supports this function.
