Dechlorinators -- Correcting errors of initial build
Hi
Looking for some advice ( as always ).
Im looking for the appropriate/best dechlorination system for my pond.
I negligently failed to build in dechlorination capability for my 36,000 litre pond. It has an auto-top so reasonably easy to build own online. However my judgement that use of liquid dechlorinators would be sufficient to cover the occasional water change was stupid with hindsight.
Whilst I lose c . 0.75-1.5% pond water through evaporation every day -- I totally missed the fact that the drum filter is quite capable of using twice that per day.
High Temperatures/ chlorine / daily water top ups to 5% is not a good idea for bacteria nor fish.
Which system and brand would the learned fellows suggest ?
Thanks in Advance

andy finch can design a system based on your tap water quality.
everyones is different and can need different equipment and media.
you can go the full monty 3 x big blues but it's not cheap...
mine has a 10" sediment prefilter then the 1st and 2nd vessels have catalytic carbon, and the 3rd has bonechar.
then it goes to a 10" 3 pod with a couple of 10" post filters, and finally another 10" sediment filter to stop any fines getting past.
then a 0.2 to 5lpm digital flow meter to set the trickle in and record usage up to 99,999 litres.
but it would be a good idea to get a water report from your provider so you have an idea what is in your water metals/chlorine/chloramines ect...
the UK companies have to provide them but not sure what the legal requirements are in your location...

RS2000 did a very good thread about water filters, worth a read:

(not sure that link will work)
