    Sourcing a bio chamber

Looking to upgrade my bio chamber from using my old vortex to something like https://burtonsaquatics.com/new-bio-chamber.html
Maybe i am just getting old but 800 for some plastic to me seems too much, have you folks approached or worked with anyone who can make the same but with out the koi tax

I got the Draco bio unit (std size). It's bottom is actually curved.

You could make it - the plastic sheets can be quite expensive (for UV stable too) but a plastic welding gun and your away.

the plastic is cheap enough, at £150ish for a 8' x 4' sheet of 9mm.
half the cost is in the labour to form and build a large unit...

that burtons unit is pretty large, and probably uses £500 worth of plastic sheet, plus 30-40 meters of welding rod @ £50
plus drilling, engineering, CNC cutting ect...

i knocked a small basic one up in a day to hold 100 litrers of K1 micro but it was bloody hard graft....

    Hi,
my pool is around 4600 G.

    My bio is 800mm x 700mm x 900mm max - approx 110 G - 2 inlets, 2 outlets. Air diffuser (40lph pump)

I have had over 200 litres of K1 , but reduced it to 150 litres for max turnover ( had issue with blockage when first set up )
The price will obviously go up from that size listed.
Mine has a steel square section bracing , they do distort when filled worth asking about.

i think 'plasticmen90' in that link are JBR plastics who make custom bio tanks?
JBR Plastics Limited | Bottom Drains | Plastic Welding | Drainage Systems

though 200ltrs of bio for 5500 gallons sounds a bit light to me.
    unless adding a shower too?

    Found this interesting

    K1 Volume ??Â*-Â*chatterkoi.uk

I myself have never had my K1 a nice tea brown colour, thought I had too much when it was in my old multibay.

Definitely worth a look on ebay for a 2nd hand tank .

I managed to get a nearly new 400l fiberglass tank for £25 (below). Just a case then of cutting the required holes with a hole saw and plugging ones that are`nt requied .

JBR Plastics were quoting £325 for a 250l tank including aerator .

if it's just a DIY container you're looking for you could use an IBC with uniseal connections,
    Uniseals in the UK

    or one of these:
