Blanket weed still taking over!!!
Just had to remove the retro BD and pump from my pond to unblock it. I noticed the last couple of days the pump was slowing down or at least the water running through the sieve was so decided to check the BD. It was covered in blanket weed and so was the floor and walls of the pond. When I lifted it up there was a light circular patch on the bottom of the pond where BD was sitting. I have been using Aquasource Resolve on a monthly basis and even tried using a slightly stronger dose the last few times but it's hardly touched the bloody stuff. I've also been removing the stuff by hand every 2 or 3 days. Never known it to be so resistant to the treatment before and thought it would be starting to die off by now!!!

A fair amount in the summer but not recently as the pond is tucked in a corner behind the garage and the fence and there's also a Ketter shed so only one side gets sun all day. Although a few weeks ago the guy next door had a Bay tree cut down from about 30ft + to below 20ft but it was on the south side of the pond so didn't shade it much if at all.

I'll check the water parameters tomorrow if it's dry enough and see if that shows up anything obvious.

Fee your pain - aqua source resolve smashed the blanket weed during summer but since temps have dropped I have used 2 doses this month which hasn’t eradicated it all sadly

I'm glad I put all those female to female 2" unions on my retro BD and pump pipework yesterday just unscrewed the union after the top 90 degree bend and pulled the pipework out in on go. Cleaned off the worst of the BW and refitted the pipework. The pump wattage went from 49 - 50 watts to 60 + watts running at 40% and the flow rate was noticeably faster. This morning it's settled down to about 55 watts and everything seems to be working OK with a decent flow rate compared to the last few days
The worst bit is trying to remove the frame and net from the pond so I took the opportunity yesterday to manually remove some more BW before refitting the frame.
Let's see what happens with the BW now!
You know it's like the Terminator though "I'll be back!!!"________________________________________________

You've put some more recent photos on another thread on here and you can really see the transformation as the ponds have matured

Appologies for the long post
The round building is a full sized replica windmill exactly where the 17th century structure stood. I responded to my neighbors advert to get his Windmill working and to generate some power to run his pond system.
But due to the delapidated pond system he asked for my help in getting them up and running It was to late in the project to place bottom drains into the outer ponds as he had already fiberglassed these ponds so I have to live with vaccuuming those out after exstensive repairs to a lot of the system including a rebuild of the one waterfall feeding the outer pond.
water leaks have been cured he was loosing thousands of litres a week mainly from that waterfall.
With a lot of help from Manke Sanke i was able to reconstruct the two rivers with a flow rate of 8000 gph in each one, and they are now each with 40 chambers with the first 8 containing mechanical filtration and with the up and down flow through them all its also a massive sludge settlement tank the water enters the pumphouse via one bottom drain into a converted settlement tank into a vortex comlete with 20x8"x600mm long. 50% are planted with Iris and watercress and a few other plants but the time i was able to plant these it was late in the season so hopefully the next season I can hit the ground running.with all the constraints my neighbor placed on me to maintain his Fathers dream I think by Christmas I will be 100% up and running for the winter
