Don't know but if you neutralise it with Hydrogen Peroxide or ST it should clear almost immediately.

I seem to remember when I PP'd some K1 last year in a water butt using a fairly strong dose of PP then using HP to neutralise it again using a strong dose it went from purple to clear fairly quickly. When I PP'd my QT system recently with 3 koi in it, it went purple then eventually a brownish colour but then used a 20% water change with tap water conditioner (Interpet Bioactive Plus) it did take a while to clear. Possibly days I think. One thing I found was even though the PP was neutralised it was a week at least before it stopped effecting the test for Chlorine as the DPD4 tablets were still picking up the oxidising agent in the neutralised PP.

Mine also stayed a bit murky for a few days after treatment, neutralising with ST. It should clear and once it does, your water will probably be even clearer than it was before the treatment.

HP will clear it quicker than ST.
Cheers

have neutralised pp treatment with hyd perox. does anyone know how long peroxide stays active before i can do another treatment with pp ?
and has anyone got any knowledge on buying hydrogen peroxide ? kusuri is expensive. is it possible to buy/use the food grade peroxide off ebay 3%, 6% 0r 12% which is much much cheaper
thanks

I got my first bottle of HP from ebay and it's slightly stronger than the Kusuri stuff but only by 1 or 2% I think. Can check later.
As I only used it to clean some K1 in a water butt I used a strong dose of PP and then HP to neutralise it. Then left it for 24 hours and part drained the water butt refilled and part drained again twice just to dilute what was left of the HP as the water butt emptied onto the garden.________________________________________________

Some people don't like using HP to neutralise PP as they both use oxidising agents so prefer ST or a tap water conditioner as they think it's a safer option?

I use Kusuri HP after PP and it clears in about 10 mins. I know it's a bit expensive for what it is, but it works so i'll suffer the extra penny's.

I read somewhere that the HP is what knocks the filters back not the PP which is why more people have stopped using it.

PP will knock your filters back if used above a certain dosage which is usually what you need for it to work.
As for HP knocking filters back I'm not sure about that? I seem to remember someone telling me that the chemical symbol or compound for it was H2O2 which is I think water with an extra oxygen molecule added to it? I seem to remember someone telling me that it can actually temporarily raise the oxygen level in water?
Maybe one for Syd to answer?________________________________________________

When I clean some K1 it was left over night after PP'ing and the same after using the HP but when I did the QT as there were koi in it I just kept it purple for about 4 hours then done a 20% water change but didn't use HP just had it there just incase things went wrong and I needed to neutralise it ASAP.

Yes, that's correct. The hydrogen peroxide molecules will each add their extra atom of oxygen to the water which will then combine with the background level of dissolved oxygen molecules making ozone so the overall oxygen concentration will temporarily increase.
Ozone is a mild bleach and the unstable third atoms will dissociate (break away) and combine with any organic molecules they can find and destroy them. This includes the ones that make up a fish or the bugs in the biofilter so neutralising potassium permanganate with hydrogen peroxide is aggressive and neutralising with a dechlorinator is better way.
That situation will persist until, either all the third atoms of the newly created ozone have dissociated and damaged organic molecules or until normal aeration gasses off the third oxygen molecule and restores it to normal dissolved oxygen.

So after 2 days of deliberation.... I'm adding PP to my pond..... really not looking forward to it.... I'll be adding dechlorinator afterwards not HP.. seems scary!
Will be sitting by the pond for 4hrs incase any jump out.... then running round the pond with the dechlorinator......
