    EA vari pump question

I've got a 20K lph EA vari pump and before I start to buy some fittings can anyone confirm if the inlet and outlet threads will fit a 2" pressure pipe female to female double union fitting with an internal thread?

I know EA have a habit of making things with strange size threads.

Basically I am looking to fit a retro BD and then run 2" pressure from that to the EA pump then up and over the pond wall and into the filter shed.

The fittings that come with the pump are 2 x 2" waste pipe connections and 1 x 2" stepped hosetail.

Any help on thread matching size would be much appreciated

I hate trying to match them. Am gunna have to take a hit on mine and go to the lfs with the pump. Cost more but know it'll fit and don't have to mess about sending the wrong sizes back

I don't want to go for flexi rubber boots as the connections are going to be in the pond so there's a chance the jubilee clips will damage the fish

Same here but wanted to go as big as possible so wanted pressure not waste pipe. I know there's not much difference but every little bit helps to lower flow restrictions lol

I've got a 15K lph RC Superfish pump which has got 2" fittings so I'll check to see if the 2" from that fit the 2" on the EA pump and if so there's a better chance of the 2" being a standard fit hopefully?

    Hi Frim
this is what I do but wrap electricians tape round it to keep it all closed down and rough edges to a minimum been doing it for a couple of years we’ll never had a problem. Also it helps if there not directly level

Someone else mentioned using insulation tape on the jubilee clips to me a couple of years ago but wasn't sure if firstly it was harmful to the fish (the glue on the tape) and secondly would it stay on for any length of time once under the water?

I went back to using those 200 micron filter socks you gave me a couple of years ago Colin

I went for some 100 micron ones but at certain times of the year they block too quickly. The 200 micron ones are currently lasting between 1 to 3 days

Maybe worth a try then as you're supposed to stretch it slightly as you put it on which makes it grip better

As for the filter socks, they are a good size and I've made a spray bar out of some 3" pressure pipe then drilled 5 rows of 25 holes in it all 8mm diameter and it now has a flexi rubber boot end cap on and it works a treat. It's got a decent distribution of water all the way down the pipe so the sock gets a fairly even spread of muck in it and also adds to the aeration of the water too by the way it's spraying onto the surface.
