Filter Video - Air Lift, Anoxic and more...

As requested here is a link to my first ever video upload.
I've watched it and it does go on a bit, but it features the whole filter system, including:

    • Inlet chamber and standpipe valves.
    • Drum filter
    • Air lift pump
    • Custom Anoxic chamber
    • Outlet chamber
    • Control and monitoring system
    • Back Up system

SO if you really have nothing better to do.......

Please note that I don't claim that this is any better than any other type of filter, but it works for me

Also, I have updated the filter details on my webpage for the current pond:

Thanks for posting that. Seems like youbhave thought of everything! Absolutely amazing system and extremely well designed. Love your home made valves and the bypass on your drum. Genius.

    Nicely done UKZero!

How do you find running a mix of moving bed and anoxic? I thought that it wasn't ideal to run them together? No expert, just wondering.

Love the backup power, I have similar plans with batteries, but in my case to use them as the primary power source and charge them with the excessive solar I have available (or overnight on cheap rate in colder months). That's a later phase though. For now, I have automatic mains backup via a generator that kicks in, but that's not cheap to run!

My modifications to the Profidrum include a flap which can divert water to bypass the moving bed.
As the new parts mature I plan to reduce the flow through the moving bed until almost all the water goes straight to the anoxic as Manky Sanke does advise that Anoxic as an add-on in series with a conventional Nitrogen Cycle filter is not ideal.
The moving bed will be kept running in "tickover mode" (because there will still be some mixing). This is yet another back up if you like.
    Time will tell.

I have just realised I missed part of the video out and will update it.
Yep - it will be EVEN longer!!

Standard 110mm pipe. Nothing fancy or expensive.
Screwfix sell 1m pipe section complete with socket for about £7 which easily makes all the bits for one valve.
