Drum filter (not combi)
Ok, so there might be a purchase in the near future?
Probably been asked before but ..... So who is using which Stand alone drum and why did you choose it?
Have you had any issues with the drum and what are the after sales like?
And finally are there any british made drums out there
Ta,

I have had the Draco solum 25 for 3yrs now only problem with it was the float switch failed but sorted the same day and now have a spare.
Made very local to me in Flint N Wales which was the reason I went for it.
There is one made in St Helen's near you forgot the name now sorry.John

I also have a Draco. Although I have the smaller Solum 16.
I've not had any issues with mine. But the given flow rates are optimistic. I'd say the max flow rate for this drum is closer to 10k lph.
So if you go for one of these you definitely need to over spec it for what you need.

Hey up John (Johns),
Aqua Source are based in St. Helens but whether their Synergy drums are made there I'm not sure.
John (Pomster) I have had the Synergy 35 stand alone running all winter and of course it was s/h so probably now at least 30 months old. The baskets you gave me are taking care of the bio side of things with (now) 15 fish in residence albeit lightly fed at present.
Why not come over to Chorley and have a brew by the pond now we are allowed?

Ive been running a Draco solum 16 and seperate bio unit for about 6 months on a 12000L pond , gravity fed . Seems fine running at around 16000 LPH and really happy with the performance so far , and no issues .
There are quite a few threads on here with reviews , and various issues . Some have had problems with the control unit - when situated outside , and also maintaining the water level on pump fed systems .
I`m not too far from you , so if you want to see how Ive got it set up , drop me a message and you can come and have a look .Colin

had a QK25 drum up and running for 0 years .
only just bought it....
it's very solidly constructed, and has a quality feel of drums that are much more expensive than the £1395 it costs, plus the £69.75 you get back in reward points.
for that you get a 25,000lph drum inc wash pump and connection fittings, and a 2 year guarantee.
https://queni-koi.co.uk/qk25-entry-d...500-8244-p.asp
but you have to be quick they just had a big delivery, and are sold out already...
i pre ordered mine...

Hi Pomster,
I have the Filtrea HF30.
It’s made in Holland I think.
I got it new on eBay from Kings Lynn koi for a good price.
It handles 20k lph no problem as with a lot of the drums I think you need to over spec by about a third.
I’ve not had any major problems with it - it’s been running just short of 2 years.
It’s in a filter house so not exposed to the elements.
You need to keep the water level topped up as with most drums.
So you need a water source and a drain close by.
Cheers
Ady

The Profidrum range were NL based, but are now UK owned and UK manufactured.
They are eye-wateringly expensive, but superbly engineered.

Yes. I started off with a synergy 35. Packed in for a while. Started back up and bought a profi combi 15. Sold that and bought the profi 55/40 with separate jbr bio tank

those are VDL (Van De Lande) slide valves. they can be accessed/repaired from the top down.
but given the filterhouse looks bigger than my entire house, i doubt it's an issue!
they are more expensive than ball valves over here at £200+
https://www.bosta.co.uk/all-products...e-12149?c=3135
and cheaper in the EU €172....
