    Spindrifter Uneven Air Flow

    Hi,

Got my filter up and running on Friday along with the air feed to my Spindrifter. I notice that the bubbles on the spindrifter are much stronger on one side of the rubber diaphragm. Is this normal? If not, is there anything I can do?

I did try a stronger pump for a while. The pond was like a jacuzzi, but it didn't improve it.

Pretty much level from what I can recall. There was an issue with my other regular BD as it tilted slightly after the concrete poor. Pretty sure the Spindrifter was ok

Not a biggie as it achieves the desired result, just hoping there was some way of fixing it.

That's possible. The BD has been in the pond unused for the past 5 months while I used my old pressure filter as a stop gap prior to getting the new filter.

Not worth draining the pond to check at this stage as air is getting through, just not evenly across the diaphragm.

Mine works fine most of the time then will shoot sideways like a tornado for a while then goes back to normal.

Yeah that's what I was trying to get at when watching freds. I don't have one but thought that it's part of the design to move slightly sideways to help pull the crap

You can see what I mean from this video.

There is a thick carpet of algae in the pond that's developed over the last few months and could have grown over the spindrifter as it wasn't operating. I've a long brush on order and will give it a good clean and see if that helps.

Yep my SD produces a tornado effect occasionally from one side, no idea why, but a scrub with a brush may help, or a blast of more air may clear some partially blocked holes..
For me I have just accepted it does this occasionally...been in place for 8 years or so, and seems to do its job..
