Effect of 4 inch skimmer conversion

    Hi All,
Can anyone confirm that by adding a 4 inch skimmer line to my drum that it will reduce the pull through bottom drain & I may have to go to larger pump to retain original pull

    Cheers

Yes it probably will, especially if the pipe run on the skimmer line is short. You should fit a ball valve between your skimmer and drum to help control flow.

But the bottom line is unless the skimmer is completely shut off, it will steal some of the flow away from your bottom drain.

Whether you need a more powerful pump will depend how powerful your current pump is and also how much more flow you'll realistically be able to get through your drum.
