I used to run hydra units and essentially had 4” pipe in/out and created a cage with sheet mesh I bought from B&Q, drain outlets had a plastic slotted cylindrical cage which I bought off eBay, think they were originally to go inside foam blocks on pumps. Guess you could use epoxy to put a mesh strip across?

What size holes in mesh do I need to use to cover filter grate to keep k1 from flushing to waste?

I’m afraid I can’t remember, if you have some K1 you could measure it?

Cheers matey. Read some different sizes all over but one seems to be 10x7mm. I've just been on their website looking for some mesh screens. Thicking of doing the first 2 bays in 2 different grades of seive mesh maybe like a 120 then drop to a 60 ish to replace brushes then 1 Bay of matting 1 Bay static k1 last bay moving k1

I bought from them in the past to make a mesh screw to stop the small fish on the grow on swimming into the nexus! Used a dremmel to cut it which made life a bit easier

Think a sheet of hdpe maybe 3mm thick would work if I toke the grinder to it and cut slots in it

Sounds like a decent plan, add more if needed for flow rate then

Cheap as well nice 8x4 ft sheet works out about 20quid.. more than enough to do 2 bases for static and moving bays and a top to help compress the static. Hmmm liking this plan

Think the challenge will be getting enough water flow, how much do you need to move per hour?

Pond is 2000gal so not massive amounts but enough like. Would think the makers of the filter grids would make a smaller one for k1 like

Need to change tank connector on the multibay from 1.5 to 4 inch question is would a flange connector like you would use on a liner work on the bay with a bit sealant? 15 for a screw connector or 6 for a flange connector. Am just being tight I know but better then half price?

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
