Just to help others who may be looking for related discussion in future, about EA K+ (not least because its name is too short to search), here are a couple of other threads:
https://www.koiforum.uk/koi-carp-chat/27531-evolution-aqua-media-maturation.html
https://www.koiforum.uk/water-treatm...-k1-media.html
There was also some discussion about the topic of maturation of biomedia (although not specifically EA K+) in this thread:

Just a follow up you do mean K1 and not the new Kplus?
You don’t need to pp the new K plus media....
Cheers

I’m using Normal k1, just wondering how much pp did you use, I’ll probably use as much for 500 litres or so for 48 hours, thanks

K+ media
Must admit I can’t remember exactly how much but it wasn’t a lot just enough to turn the water purple.
So I was topping up with 20litres of k1
I put it into a 50litre bucket.
Put about 35 litres of fresh tap water in.
No dechlorinator as that neutralises the pp
Added an air stone then about 3 grams of pp
Then left it for a day.
All that’s off the top of my head.
There is a thread where others on the forum have described what they did and I just followed that.
You don’t need to be too precise but make sure you keep the pp water well away from your skin and eyes
Edit:
Afterwards I neutralised the PP with hydrogen peroxide then fished out the k1 with a net into another empty bucket and rinsed it off with tap water then added it to the filter.
Cheers
Ady

I used quite a strong pp dose when I did mine last year because the K1 was second hand and also did a couple of filters socks that were also second hand and the person who gave them to me had an issue with flukes. I also had a 3500 lph pump to do which had been sitting in the bottom of a water butt full of very dirty sludgy water.
I put about 50 litres of dechlorinated water into a 114 litre water butt then put the pump in the bottom and then 50 litres of K1 plus the filter socks. Mixed a heaped tea spoon full of pp in a mug of boiling water gave it a stir and tipped it into the water butt. Stuck an airline and air stone in to give it some movement and also ran the pump. It all boiled nicely after a few minutes. Left it for 24 hours then HP'd it and left it for another 24 hours. Then drained the water butt remembering to turn off the water pump first. Refilled with dechlorinated water and left it for another 24 hours with the water pump running. Then just drained a flushed it with dechlorinated water a couple of times.

Can't remember exactly what I used to get the K1 out of the water butt apart from a mixture of a scoop made out of an old 2 pint plastic milk bottle or an old ice cream tub and maybe a wet and dry hoover. I just remember it was a pain in the arse job as the water butt was in a tight corner plus it was raised up so it would drain into my waste water tub.

I’ve got a new drum filter and the bio chamber takes 75 litres of k1, already been running with 50 litres since October and the k1 should be good to go for the coming season but thought I’d give the new stuff a helping hand with PP. thanks again

Just make sure you neutralise and give the new stuff a good rinse off before putting it in with the existing K1 as any pp left in it may kill off the bacteria on the original K1.
I use HP to neutralise the pp but someone else mentioned using ST as using HP is using an oxidising agent to neutralise another oxidising agent. But I was told to use HP by one of Manky Sanke's friends so it must be OK to use.

Thanks will do, bought some crystals last year for neutralising pp and have some ready made to hand always. Wish I’d known about new k1 + as this apparently doesn’t need pp, have a great day and once again thanks
