Amalgam UV
Good Evening and Happy Christmas
First post here so go easy on me please!
I run a profi combi bio 50 on a 7k gallon pond which has been up and running since mid August this year. I currently have 15 koi, heated and having spent the last 4 months trying to get the bio cycle going I am relieved to have finally cracked it so have been steadily increasing the feed on an auto feeder.
I have an amalgam UV installed in the drum section but as I’ve been maturing my bio side it’s been switched off until yesterday, went out last night to put them to bed and do my checks and noticed I could see the UV glow from within the bio chamber. So knowing enough about UV I know it kills bacteria good and bad etc so suddenly thought is the UV now killing/reducing the beneficial bacteria on the very media I have spent the last 4 months nurturing?
This question must apply to most people running a combined drum and bio I assume!?
Any answers/help/suggestions much appreciated!

It wont be a problem bud.It will be very limited exposure as it can only shine through the slots.Ive just sold my profi combi, and it was never a problem for me.I put my Oase pond pads under the microscope and they were teeming with life.
