To me, every additional video he adds makes the Tempest look even worse than the previous video!
And using the fact the pond is low stocked as a way to demonstrate how much dirt the 2 Tempests are able to catch obviously begs the question, How often would they need cleaning in a properly stocked pond?
And when they let dirt into the pond after cleaning he suggests its because he only cleaned them twice and not 3 times.
It is also the middle of winter.
Based on the fact the Eazy section of my Nexus would completely block up within 24 hours in mid-summer on a 12k litre pond, I am extremely doubtful one of these could make it through a day without getting totally blocked.
And who wants to be cleaning one of these 2 or 3 times per day, which I'm certain is what they'll need on a properly stocked pond in summer.
But, looking at the vast amount of very positive comments on his videos about these, a lot of people disagree with me and will be buying one anyway.

It’s not that clear, but is not the pond filtered with the EA K1 Microbead 24 filter, if so how come the Tempest is trapping crap with standard K1?.
I run the same filter after a midi sieve on one drain, at the moment I’m cleaning for fun, the sieve captures 99% of the crap, and even after two weeks there is nothing showing in the sight glass after boiling it. Bearing in mind, it’s overstocked and covered, the Draco on the other line is cleaning at the very least every 99 minutes and I’m still feeding sparingly.

Evolution Aqua Tempest
How I understood it it’s straight off the skimmer line and not via bead
I would like to see a 300 micron sock on one of the outlets for 24 hrs and see how much crap went through...
I’m sure there was a 1 micron claim that is just ridiculous.

But surely it defeats the object, the Tempest is supposed to polish the water, running water through it after its been filtered, so they are running unfiltered water through it and are amazed at how much crap it is trapping.
As others have thought its ideal for 90% the World of Water type customers that sell low grade koi, they will buy it.

As Mike says, one of the pipes appears to come straight from the skimmer line.
However, Tim originally implied it was fitted after the bead (which he also claims filters down to 1 micron), so when I said in that case there theoretically won't be any dirt bigger than 1 micron available for the tempest to filter, and he kind of agreed that might be the case.
However, it may have been a misunderstanding as it does look like one of the skimmer line pipes goes straight into the pump that feeds the tempests.
But as you say, this still defeats the object as he originally said it was designed to be fitted after the main filter, but now seems to be selling it's capabilities as a stand alone filter.
Anyway, if you want one don't pay £250 for the EA one, Screwfix sell a pressurised fence sprayer for £7.50 which already has a threaded inlet and a pressure release valve for cleaning. It just needs a hole drilling at the other end for the pipe outlet back into pond.

Just checked, Screwfix don't have that one in stock right now, but it's similar and larger than this one.
You could also cut the wand off, put a one way valve on the pipe and connect to air line for more rigorous cleaning.
I reckon you could make this just as good as the tempest for under £35

i was speaking to a friend about this today.
Its basically an upright Easypod that you cant get into to give it a good clean
In the video i saw even after cleaning there was still debris in the media
Give it a bit of time til algae grows on the inside of the perspex and a leaf or something larger and it wont come out
Cheap slide valves too
Next they will be telling people to use union fittings so that it can be removed to give it a shake before cleaning5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window

It with an Easypod it will look ok from the outside, with this Tempest, will look nice when the algae takes hold in a month or so.
You’ve guessed it by now, I won’t be buying one, but don’t let me put you off.
