I watched the Youtube video of Dazzle Koi and where he boils the easypod and catches the waste from the easypod - he says he cleans his easypod daily and believes how important getting muck out of the koi system is which I totally can see his point, so I can't believe he would be happy with all that crud left in the Tempest after one clean, I bet he did repeated cleans after the video stopped

Agree, it is probably the worst designed bit of kit - a bucket with gravel in it will do a similar job and probably be easier to clean

I still can’t get my head round these, in see from wrighty’s video they get shot of some crap, I’m not sure they’re “pressured” they’re open at both ends with constant flow through, the water doesn’t exactly gush out of the return does it? So, what’s it doing that a small static bed wouldn’t do tagged on the back of a moving bed for example?
Is it just like a smaller footprint easy pod or am I missing something?
I need to be enlightened

Ah you spotted the frankly hilarious flaw with all EA filter products... The crud is trapped for days to fester until flushed out, as opposed to being removed at source with a sieve or drum! Seems a very easy thing to deduce.........
I was thinking the other day that EA will soon be producing a drum, but then I watched the QN video with all the Nexi! They are still clearly selling hundreds of these units and will probably continue to do so.9000 litre, fibreglass, BD/skimmer, Nexus 220, Draco, Remora i9 ASHP, Econbead 50 bead filter.

Probably make one with 800 micron screen and backwashes your pond but because it has EA printed on it they will sell loads

I no expert but surely on Tim’s pond with the 2 tempest if he left the top 2 valves open they would empty much quicker with the air getting in from the top. And sure a quick empty will get rid of more crap as water be pulled through media quicker.
Similar to cleaning anything from sponges to filter floss. High power hose jets more crap out than a hose with no end.
Just my thoughts.

Have to say after reading this postings from the start on the Tempest like most I'm not in love with this bit of kit and to me it's no better than the Hart of a Nexus or a Easy pod filter the only plus I can see to it is its a good pre filter to a Bakki shower as its under pressure. Terrys Diy build is so far in front build wise Ea should hang there heads in shame and take a step back and look at the Easy Nexus centre and the Easy pod centre and compress the media in some way in that.

I wouldn’t use one before a shower, you’d be effectively turning your shower off every day when you cleaned the “tempest” and drained it down.
Plus, not sure you’d be pumping through 20k/he through one? I’d have thought about half that at the most.
