Film on water surface
Hi
I have had a Ultrasieve 3 and a bio max bead filter running for 3 days and I have a film sitting on top of the water and have skimmed it from the top once but it is starting to come back has anyone any idea what this can be I have not done any water test yet due to new set up Will the beads give off this film please any ideas be great

I get that from sturgeon food and some high protein koi food?

If it’s a new pond it could be off the liner or fibreglass? I’ve had stuff off of liner when it’s first filled although not fibreglass to be honest. Is it oily or more like dust on the surface?

It is fibreglass I hope I have it under control now set up air stone got back from work straight down to pond and it looks clear so fingers crossed

I hope so I will keep a eye on it and the filter booster will kick in soon then I can start testing Water then slowly adding koi

If you don’t have any fish in there you’ll not start the filter maturing though. Could add a few goldfish to kick it off or something?

I have added some filter booster and yep probably the best bet

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
