    Screen for K1 media

Hi there, I had 2 50 gall tanks with an air rings containing K1 media as part of my filter system. Following installation of a drum I have taken out one of the tanks as I need the space, increasing the flow through the remaining tank. My current filter exit in the remaining tank is drilled 110mm pipe & drilled flower pot on the end of the pipe just below the water level. The K1 always collects around the exit, even though the air is moving the K1 but it was not a problem as there was 2 tanks! If the congestion gets too heavy the flow reduces to my pump which cuts out as I have a balance tank with low water trip. Can anyone suggest a type of screen (mesh size?) I can put in the tank to keep the K1 from reducing the flow out? Any other alternative ideas welcome.

    cheers Doug.

sounds as though you need to make the surface area greater, I have overcome the same problem . Are you able to insert a fixing (110cm) straight or at 90% to enable you to use a tube of s/s mesh from the pipe to the surface. The mesh is available in different sizes from mesh direct, cut some 110 pipe into short lengths space out at interval's and hold with jubilee clips, hope this makes sense, if not let me know.

Thanks for the reply fry, sounds like the solution to my problem. Good the heads up on Mesh Direct, presumably the mesh size needed would be just smaller than the K1. I will get some ordered, thanks again.
