screen blocked up
My aquasource 35 combi screen is soo clogged up i have pressure washed it to no avail apart from it working for one day...........been running this for 2yrs .......only difference is i have been feeding coppens grower this year for the first time, wondering if it is a protein build up on the screen as grower is high in fat .Tried sodium bicarb too .......just ordered some aquasource screen cleaner from aurora , fingers crossed.......phil

Bio Film, unfiltered mains water stops it, used to have the same issue with the screen blocking when using water from the clean side, Was at the stage where I was pressure washing or cleaning with white vinegar every two weeks at best. Since changing over to mains water over a year ago for cleaning have not had the issue since.
I don’t use coppins it happens with all food.
My Midi Sieve started blocking a couple of weeks ago, running on the same pond, rinsed with a spray of tap water and ok, Now modified the system to enable to rinse everyday with tap water.

Weirdly enough I was in the same situation as you Phil last week.
I have a draco solum 16, feeding coppens grower and it was going off every 3 minutes. My water bill will be massive.
My pond is now absolutely full of fines.
I had to drop the flow switch on the drum and power washed the crap out of it... literally. Seems to have done the trick as it's back to 30 - 40 minutes between cleans. Still have a ton of fines though.
I had that issue even though I use mains water to clean the drum. Maybe it's the food, but as I'm unheated I won't be feeding it for much longer before going back to OSW which doesn't seem to produce as much waste as the grower did.

I bought 2 litres of white vinegar 4 years ago with the intention of using it to clean my drum screens, but have not as yet needed to do it. I think having a big UV in there stops biofilm building up.

Aquasource drum cleaner is good and can be used with the screen in situ.
Harmless to fish too.
plenty in stock if you would like to purchase via my website.
Cheers

Having spent yesterday monitoring the drum closely i saw the smallest deposits of algae on drum ........blanketweed returning which is barely visible looking in pond, so added resolve. The other thing its going into dry run mode , so i reset and it comes back on saying lid open ?
