Topping the pond back up now so will clean the skimmer line filters tomorrow I think.
I had a slight leak on the ball valve for the waste so checked the rubber boots and tightened the threaded union on the bottom of the valve. It looks like it's sorted now although it did take a few attempts as I didn't want to over tighten the ball valve connection

Just had a look at a midi sieve and now I'm sure the screen was fitted upside-down until this afternoon lol. The other give aways were after looking at the pictures of Fred's sieve screen I could see the muck sticking to the screen in wavey lines half way up it, but on my screen all the muck was at the bottom of the screen. Also when I removed the screen earlier there was a load of muck on what was the top of the screen which doesn't get water on it. So basically the water was running down the screen and taking the muck with it then rolling round in the bottom gutter section then going back through the bottom of the screen and out through the outlet of the sieve. Now the water appears to be going through the screen more as well as running down it a little bit so the gutter section isn't quite as full as it was before. I think the screen wants a proper hosing off as all I did today was give it a quick brush to get the worst of the muck off and then refitted the correct way round

Good start to the day
Got up and had to deal with 2 lots of cat sick in the front room. Then had to do the litter tray. Later I've got to do the dishes, the bins and clean the windows. To kind of break up the crap jobs I have just spent 2 hours cleaning all the filters on the pond and it's bloody cold out there at the moment!!!________________________________________________

Lol I was having a coffee while writing that message too. Just need a cheap option to replace the first filter on the skimmer line as it's currently just a Bioforce Revolution filter and doing quick cleans by just spinning the handle 10 times in each direction does very little so was wondering if I could replace the sponges with K1 and then the winding handle quick clean may actually do something?

Actually, I'm really grateful that I haven't got much to do today, had the covid jab Thursday afternoon and it's made me feel right rough.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
