Oase ProfiClear Premium Compact
Hi All
I am considering the Oase ProfiClear Premium Compact filter (pump fed) for a 3000 gallon pond. In terms of a cost effective pump and UV to accompany this filter, would something like the Aquamax 10,000 and Bitron 55w UV be sufficient?
Thanks

I have the prem drum on a 4,500 gal pond I’m not sure the compact would be up to it, also think you will need a bigger pump

Thanks Sim, could you please elaborate on what would potentially not be up to it? The compact filter for a 3,000g pond, a 55w UV or the 10,000 pump?

Hi mate,
To me, for the size of pond vs screen size and bio chamber I personally think it would be overpowered as stock is increased.
Filters never handle as much are the manufacturers claim - similar to car MPGs.
just my view rather than first hand experience mate.
Cheers

Oase ProfiClear Premium Compact
Well everything depends on how you are planning on stocking the pond and how often you are hoping to feed.
I have the premium oase drum and moving bed with a k1, helex13, pondpad mix along with a bakki shower. I only have 1200g pond
I starter with a ea easy pod but that was soon upgraded as although was marketed as suitable it was not and I lost a lot of fish along the way.
I am over filtered but i am planning a new build at some time in the future and I did not want to have to buy again.
So if you are planning on having 5 koi and feeding lightly then you would likely be ok

Thanks Gazkoi and Mikeh83. Definately food for thought when considering more pond additions.
Is there anyone on this forum or anyone who knows someone with the compact version that uses this filtration for a pond with c.3000g+ and a fairly stocked pond with koi?

No worries.
When you say fairly stocked how many fish are you planning for?

I`ve run a Proficlear premium on my 2,500 gallon pond for about 2 years now and i have to say it`s the best filter i have ever owned.Minimal cleaning which suits me as i`m into the second half of my seventh decade, messing about cleaning a Nexus in the winter does not appeal to me any more.It runs in conjunction with an Oase 55w UV.Water clarity is normally very good but it seems to have struggled a bit this year with the high temperatures and strong sunlight,it may also need the screens cleaning,i`ve got my dealer coming in to do that shortly. It does use quite a bit of water when cleaning with the pond having to be topped up fairly often but it suits me.

Very interesting product feedback Ray.
I clean my screens with Aquasource drum cleaner - works a treat. I also have and source slate screens which also come in very handy as they are very quick to switch over.
Cheers

I’m specing a new 15000 litre pond and considering the proficlear compact gravity. 5x2x1.5m Given it only has two inlets and one outlet do you think one bottom drain and skimmer to filter is adequate and one return to pond? Alternatively if I fitted two bottom drains interested in advice on returning skimmer,
