Further update
I used a wet mix of sand cement and levelled off the window ledge to ensure I get the full 5cm space for window.. by the time I remove the 5mm for sealant I’ll have 4.5cm overlap.

And I’ve cemented in my skimmer
Just waiting for it to dry over night
I put a massive dollop I consider sort of like a lintel over top to give more strength probably doesn’t need it but I made too big a batch of cement.
I won’t see it as a wall is going to be on the edge of pond wall

I’ve just noticed I’ve ordered those fittings from cd aquatics but what’s the difference between metric and imperial pressure fittings?
I have 50mm solvent weld pipe that I use these sleeves to fit the pressure fittings I already have.
I’m not sure if the presssure fittings that I have which I know fits my pipe is metric or imperial.
Do metric and imperial pressure fittings have the same internal diameter?

I think you’ll find they are just under a couple of mm different.
plasticpipeshop.co.uk lists both imperial and metric with outside diameter and wall thickness so you can compare.

Hopefully my fittings still fit then will find out soon when they arrive

I’ve got to redo sections of it working today it still hasn’t completely hardened off and I knocked a bit off
Other than that the ledge looks good now
Going to redo it tonight and since I’m at work for 4 days hopefully it will dry up properly...
Fiberglassing is booked in for next wed

The wall around the pond is going up nicely
Put some trellis at the back so neighbours don’t see an eyesore

My shed is up and I’m putting in piping for the filter.
I had spare insulation left so I insulated the shed so in winter I can keep the pond and filter insulated if need be.
I’ve noticed after some rain that water runs down the side of one of the walls and causes some ingress on the inside.
Is this something I should be concerned about? The timbers are treated.
I can’t access the other side of the wall as it’s very close to next doors wall on the boundary.
I could possibly spray something from a distance at the wall if there is a sprayable water proofer?
Any one have any input?

Looking good Steve, I don't a little water ingress through the walls is a problem it won't get past the fibreglass and the pressure of the water in the pond won't let much in...
Glad to hear the glassing is booked in, an exciting day that will be

The water ingress isn’t into the pond it’s into my shed I guess not really a pond question more a shed build question

I’ve got some solenoid valves that I was thinking of using to automate some draining and refilling of pond but can’t figure out how they work.
Does anyone understand how these work?
£40.03 | Normally closed 220V AC 2 inch irrigation water latching solenoid valve
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMKln0Z
So I’ve tried tipping water into the valve and it seems to drip slowly even when it’s supposed to be normally closed...
And if I activate the solenoid nothing seems to change although maybe the drip is a bit faster.
I can’t understand how it’s supposed to work

The normally closed solenoids are closed until you put a current across their terminals when they open. So you just need to buy the right voltage power supply and put it on a timer to hold the valve open for the period you want.
I use them on my RO setup. Mine are 24V ones.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Yeah that’s what I thought but it seems I’ve bought a slightly different kind.
I’ve managed to figure it out though. It’s because they are made for high pressure they require water to be pushed in at pressure into the valve for it to function. If you just trickle water it then it leaks.
I found a good diagram and description online for “pilot solenoid valve” which explained it. Very confusing though. So I guess the only way for me to see it working perfectly is to connect it up.
When it comes to connecting valves like this what fittings do you use so that you can easily remove it and replace in future if it fails?
Currently it’s a BSP thread to pressure solvent weld
I don’t think it would be possible to unscrew the bsp after the solvent weld end is welded into pipe

So it’s been a rainy day causing fiberglassing to be canceled. Looks like a rainy week ahead.
I have pond covered but the shed roof i want doing can’t be covered as it’s already 2.4m high.
So I’ve been sat staring at my unfinished pond thinking about random upgrades I could do whilst in building to ensure it’s done right first time..
So far I have two Inlets from my pond and 2 outlets.
Evo 30000 lph pump taking water from skimmer then to waterfall.
Evo 30,000 lph pump taking water from bottom drain to draco drop in drum/nexus.
Then to evo 110 UV then to two mid return outlets.
Nexus is filled to brim with the bio media.
I’ve been looking at these trickle towers. I have limited space but I can hang one on a wall directly above my nexus and pipe the bottom tray out into the nexus.
Is this something worth me looking into and if so could you guys give me your opinions on what media to use and any ways I can make one myself rather than investing in a big system. Mainly because I have limited space I am going to have to design and build the unit to fit my space.
Cheers

My build thread must have gotten boring
I’ve fixed my window ledge the best I can. Do you think these bumps will cause any issues with possible leaking after fiberglassed?
