Another question
It doesn’t look like you can cut this pipe down and the plastic ends seem to be glued in place? I think?
This kink looks bad for flow? Does everyone else have this kink?

Here is mine in a nexus 320. When its installed. With the water levels. I found the deeper you go down. Dropped on the legs.
The more flexi hose plays out. So in my case the kink bend is not as bad. I get a good flow. That's as far down in the nexus I could go lol

I realised my nexus is too high today but I can’t do anything about it.
I was going to raise the pond to 100cm above the ground rather than 80cm to accommodate the difference.
I didn’t realise we could use a lower water level.
Do you lose a lot of filter capacity if you lower the water level?

Do you mean as in water level.
Here is my water height in nexus and my water height in the pond. Where you can see the black tape on my window frame. That is lined up for my wall skimmer.
So my draco drum is lined up same level as the tape on the window frame. With the waste tray of the draco drop in.
On this new draco. It took me two days to get my level a spot on. Plus playing with my pump speed.
Ran now at 12000lph on my setup.
My old drum I had it set up in a 1 hour.

Is the top of your filter higher than the water level of your pond? Currently my filter will be 20cm higher than my pond water level unless I make pond higher

Comparing how low your drum is to mine and your outer ring water level it looks like your outer ring must have a higher water level than the inner ring?

Yes my water level was set to the manual of the nexus 320 without the draco drum.
I can take draco out and run it with the easy inside
I have done this before.
Then as it was getting built I bought the drop in drum. And set the waste tray to the
Pond water hight. For the nexus and wall skimmer

There the same height lol
The only time outer goes lower. Is if I pump flow more. That took a while of playing to get the right balance. If I go 13000lph above it drops outer ring. If I keep it at 11000lph to 12000lph it is perfect lol
Stays level. Inner and outer ring.
I would say it is flowing at 9000lph with friction loss .

How high is your pond raised off the ground in your picture?
I’m gonna have to raise mine to 103cm high to keep the nexus level.
I’m concerned 103cm may be too high and look bad as I have 3 walls around the pond too as it’s entirely on my land border.
Top of walls would be 200cm and top of pond 100cm

Raising the ground is what I am doing anyway as I’m doing artificial grass but I’m not sure neighbours would be happy with my raising my pergola so high above their fence if I raise my ground too high

How tall is your window?

If I had to guess I’d say 33cm below your window in bricks 15 cm above your window in bricks and
Around a 50cm tall window?
I’ll be going for 30cm below my window and a 70cm high window.

How close are you putting art grass to the pond mate ? Only reason am asking is the 1 week we had hot waether this year I had art grass down up to pond wall and also had a bit as coping on top on hot days we walked up to the pond and 1 of us would put our hand in to feed the chag as always but only to get a bat of static electricity pulled all pumps off bought all new ones thinking it much be them no joy toke the coping peice off no joy then had a google on art grass ripped it up got rid no more problems. I could have just been the unlucky one tho . We didn't go cheap either tiny garden and still cost over 600 notes .

It’s going right up to the wall. The concrete wall is 21cm thick plus 2cm of tile.
But none of my pumps will be in the pond. They will be in a shed 4m away from artificial grass on a concrete slab based shed.
The grass im going with is a good quality nylon based grass instead of polyethylene so should reduce the static but also using infill silica sand between the grass fibers gives the grass more rigidity and makes less friction.
Will cross that bridge further down the line if it comes to it but there are ways to deal with it.

Hi Steve, Out of interest have you set the Nexus level according to the draco manual? Ie the running pond water level is half way up the draco waste tray? Or something different?

I havnt physically installed it yet. I’m building the pond but the filter is going to sit on a suspended concrete slab with a basement under it so the height of the nexus has already been set.
I thought the only thing that mattered about water level and draco was ensuring the draco is sat in the nexus so that the level is in middle of the draco waste shoot?

So the position of the nexus doesn’t matter for that does it as you just adjust the draco up or down.
I’ve realised I’m gonna have to just raise my pond to 100cm though as you can only get away with reducing the water level in the nexus a max of 7cm as otherwise the draco hose won’t be fully submerged so flow will be reduced
