Biocenosis Anoxic Baskets Within Koi Pond

I'm looking for ways to reduce Nitrates whilst going through NPS. I do not have the ability to pass water through any other form of filtration (eg veg, bakki), on the way back to the pond after my drum and biomedia

Has anyone used Biocenosis Baskets as per Manky Sanke's design within the body of their pond and if so how successful were these?

The same basket just in a “filter”. I thought about putting baskets in the corners stacked for my new pond design. However you may want the fish kept away from the baskets (they will simply investigate for food). Once you have that I though why not make it into a filter chamber to run the airlifts from

As long as there’s some flow past the basket but not at it- it can be in the pond

Thanks @NickK-UK I was thinking of enclosing my baskets in black nylon tights to keep them koi safe, and sitting them on the bottom of the pond where they'd get a bit of water movement as it pulls into the bottom drain, but not a lot. Certainly not what I'd call 'flow''.

Would this work do you think?

Would the tights stop the molecules drawing in to the basket? Would it be better to just cover the top of the baskets to stop the nosey little critters digging?

I think the fish may move that too easily. Almost need a container with soft edges the fish don’t harm themselves but can prevent a koi with food cravings from getting past it.

I've got butterfly netting I can put over the top of the baskets too to stop them digging. Sorry to sound daft but not sure I'm getting what you mean by needing a container with soft edges! I've got large square plant baskets already and that was what I was planning to use. They don't have any sharp edges. If the fish move these about a bit I'm not bothered other than making sure they don't harm themselves. Bedsides I could tie the baskets together which would make them much harder to move. Was moving the baskets about what you meant?

    Yes

Tying the baskets together may be a good move.
