    second feed to drum filter

My second feed to my drum is fed by a 2" pipe from my skimmer, i also have a redundant one and a half inch inlet to the pond which is below the water level, i was wondering if it would be worth using this as a mid water feed to my drum i was thinking of joining the skimmer and redundant inlet with a fleible boot fitting then onto a piece of 4" pipe to the drum, would it be worth the effort in the hope of increasing the flow to my drum and draw in some water from a little below the pond surface.

Is the first feed a 4 bottom drain?

If so then the skimmer is likely to be starved by the 4.

Area = pi * radius squared. So 2 is 3.14 sq inches vs 4 giving 12.56 sq inches.

In my 1000gal pond I have both a 4” BD & a 4” side drain into my drum then my skimmer goes through a UV / brush / matting /K1 chamber. The only way this works for me is that each drain/skimmer has a valve to control & balance the flow, which at times can be difficult to find the sweet spot that works.
Regardless of how many drains you have on a gravity flow feed it will only take out of the pond what your pumps can return, so as important is the number of returns ,the size of pipe & the rate of flow per hour that your pump(s) are producing.
