Filter recommendation - 3000g pond - Nexus Vs Oase??

    Hi All,

I have decided i have had enough of all the manual sponge and muck cleaning this summer from my old skool Oase Biotec 10 filter with a Bitron 25w UV. Could you please recommend a replacement for a 3000 gallon pond?

I am thinking along the lines of the Nexus 220 or the BioTec Screenmatic2 - 60000. I have read mixed reviews on the 220 but the positives seem to outweigh the cons. I am also drawn to the newer Oase models. Budget is up to £1.5k.

    Thanks!

    Hello mate,

I moved to a Nexus 210 earlier this year from a multi-bay setup (for similar reasons - sick of the weekly two hour ritual involving mucky brushes etc.!) I've been happy with my choice overall, but I'm not sure if a 220 might be at it's limit for a 3,000g pond (depending on stocking, obviously) - might be worth looking at the 300/310/320 Nexus...?

    Hope this helps!

Second hand you’d get a sieve and a nexus 300/310/320 which would go a job? Possibly a second hand nexus and a draco drum?

Thanks all. Great suggestions on the Nexus 3* ranges considering size of pond. I will have a look at second hand items. The draco drum could push my budget depending on cost of the Nexus, but great shout on the combo.

Are there any recommendations other than Nexus? Does anyone rate the Oase screenamatic range? Whilst there are sponges, the cleaning method seems to be far efficient judging by the videos I've seen compared to my existing filter.

It would have to be pump fed.

You could try a bead filter but it will need to be cleaned quite often if your pumping all the crap from the pump on the bottom of the pond to it with no prefilter

Screenomatics always looked like a good idea but I’ve never had one, hopefully someone here will have experience of them though
