Zeolite v moving K1 bed
I’ve took out the zeolite out of my old oase screened 35 filter and made a k1 moving bed in that area I’ve got 75ltrs of K1 in there can anyone foresee any problems it seems to be working at the moment my pond is 2000gallons.
Any help or advice would be good has anyone done anything similar?

Thanks for the reply The K1 is from my old pond filter it’s been sat in the new filter as a static bed for a month in place of the zeolite. The zeolite has been in there for two years and I had done nothing to it so I don’t believe it was doing anything anyway the moving bed has got to be better.
I’m recharging the zeolite now and I m not sure to put any back in?

If the k1 was already mature i'd stick with that.
Keep testing your water and if you don't get any ammonia or nitrite readings, then it's doing it's job.
I'd hang onto the zeolite though. It'd be handy to use temporarily, if you get any spikes in ammonia. But I'd not leave it in all the time as your k1 will need some ammonia to keep the bacteria well fed and thriving.

If you do put it back in then put it in sequence after the K1 to make sure you aren't robbing the bacteria of ammonia. Sorry if that's stating the obvious.

Thanks I didn’t think of that I was going to put it down the side of my foams.
I’ve just got it all up and running but the K1 isn’t bubbling yet not sure if it’s the air pump not man enough it’s a Blagdon 60 or if it’s the K1 needs to mature a bit more
