Ref my last, the koi died a few moments ago, it seems he may have gorged on the sturgeon food, I stroked his tummy and a load of poo came out so I guess he was constipated. Anyway he is now in the recycling bin. The other still upright but wont move so hopefully he will pull through. Had the water tested at the local aquatics for 2nd opinion and its spot on. Ref the pod i inserted a ball valve on the inlet and turned down my flow rate just a tad. Seems to be performing well.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hope the other one pulls through OK.

If you have just put a valve on the flexi pipe between the pump and the Eazy Pod and are using that to control the flow you are doing the wrong thing. The valve will restrict the flow to the Eazy Pod but at the same time it is causing excessive back pressure on the pump. As a result you will possibly shorten the life of the pump or the excess pressure will possibly start to strain any joints and as a result could push them apart or force water to leak from them. If you have the pump sitting on the bottom of your pond any leaks can drain or partially drain your pond.

I know that Oase Y I suggested wasn't the cheapest one but maybe a standard T with stepped hose tails is a cheaper option?

You could T off the end of the flexi hose and fit your valve between the T and the Eazy Pod. Then what ever doesn't go into the Eazy Pod gets pumped back into the pond or later on maybe into your pressure filter then back via the water blade?

    Lost both koi today
Ref valve, been very careful not to reduce the flow by very much and impact on the pump. The T option would have been a pain for my setup and not good enough to feed another filter or blade. Happy with final setup.
Ref the dead koi, the consensus is they over fed on sturgeon food, I am prob guilty of throwing in extra knowing the fish will get most and the sturgeons get some and since they are still alive and kicking they must be feeding. My question is....will sturgeon eat sinking koi pellets because if they do then I will only put a tiny amount of sturgeon food in... prob evenings and they can munch on the koi stuff if anything is leftover.

Hi, after receiving my automatic pod a few weeks ago and after watching many you tube videos i had the same query regarding the lack of a non return valve on the inlet. I contacted EA and they advised me the internals of the pod have been updated eliminating the need for the valve. On the inside of the pod the chamber where the UV sits and your inlet attaches is now fully enclosed except for the very top where it has a slot at roughly the same level as the top of the outflow tube, this means when the pump switches off water cannot flow back down the inlet as the inlet and outlet are of equal height.

Shows that they haven't updated their website as the instructions for the complete version were still for the previous version in the downloads section

Another day another drama, one of reasons I upgraded to the pod was to get better water clarity. Mine keeps going murky, I put in some green water remedy a couple of days ago which does the trick and I get crystal clear water for 2 days then back to murky where it's difficult to see the bottom. I was hoping the pod would cope with keeping the green water at bay after helping it with the remedy. Although pod only been running since friday but surely the uv should have an immediate impact on the murky water... any ideas.

If the easypod is fairly new, you need to give it time for the media to mature and the bacteria to get to work. This can take upto 6 months.

persevere and you’ll get there. Good luck

Blimey I prob be dead by then, although it is running in tandem with my well established filter whose uv made no difference I was hoping the pod uv would cope, the water quality is very good, tested yesterday, just trying to tackle the clarity issue, patience is not one of my qualities.

My water clarity has been up and down since installing my auto pod about a month ago but I've put most of that down to the amount of rain we've had recently dropping all sorts of pollutants into the pond. We're now on our 2nd day without considerable rainfall and I can see the bottom of the pond again.

I think yur right, I noticed some improvement the next day, I can see the bottom which is about 4ft deep but the water is not what people describe as gin clear.

Having lost 3 koi this week since putting in the eazypod I came to the conclusion I must have parasites. They were treated couple of months ago with nt labs eradick but today I used bacterad as most remaining fish are flashing but feeding and swimming about. Didnt want to wait to see another kop it. Does anyone know if bacterad actually works against flukes. Problem is I have sturgeons orfes and a tench so limited to what I can use

Things are improving, I think I suffer from fines getting through the pod. you use a micron sock, i presume you fit this over the end of the return pipe with a jubilee clip as I would imagine a draw cord wont keep it attached. How often do you change it and how do you clean it before its reused. Is 400 micron ok or is 200 the required size
