Drum + Nexus ?
hi all. currently running a Nexus 210 on my 4'' bottom drain, 5,200 gallons. I am toying with the idea of removing the Nexus, sitting a Drum filter in its placwe, then placing the Nexus AFTER the Drum. So it would basically just become a huge Bio Chamber. I have search the internet for any threads about anyone doing tthis but found nothing. Does anyone know of anyone havng done this already?, or is it even possible/viable ?

Hi bicolormoth,
I have a drum followed by a nexus.
Originally I had a sieve then nexus and then upgraded to a drum filter.
Now I just use the nexus for the bio.
The nexus is pump fed from the drum then gravity return via a 4 inch pipe. I considered replacing the nexus with a bio chamber but I thought it would be useful to keep it as a back up. If the drum filter gets a problem then I can just bypass and revert to the nexus as a sole filter. I still clean the nexus out every other week and it does still catch a small amount of dirt. Down side the nexus will take up more room than an equivalent bio filter and probably requires a larger air pump to run.
An alternative is a drop in Draco drum which replaces the easy so the footprint remains the same but you do reunite more height space for the Draco drum.
I’m happy with the set up I have at the moment.
Feel free to ask any further questions.
Cheers
Ady

Ha autocorrect it’s meant to say you require more height above the nexus for a drop in Draco drum
